The EPYC 9254 is a Genoa part built around Zen 4: 24 cores, 48 threads, 128 MB of L3, a 2.9 GHz base that boosts to 4.15 GHz, and — the specification that actually distinguishes it — twelve channels of DDR5-4800 on a single socket. That is more memory bandwidth than either dual-Xeon configuration in our range achieves across two sockets.
It also brings 128 lanes of PCIe 5.0, which is what makes ten NVMe bays practical rather than nominal. Where the Xeon boards top out at six SATA SSDs sharing a controller, this platform gives each drive a direct high-bandwidth path. For anything I/O-bound, that difference dominates.
Being single-socket matters too: there is no NUMA boundary to reason about, no cross-socket latency penalty, and no need to pin processes to keep memory access local. For databases and latency-sensitive services, a single fast socket is usually easier to get right than two slower ones.
What this configuration is good at
Where the Single EPYC 9254 earns its price against the rest of the range.
Production databases
Twelve DDR5 channels, 128 MB of L3 and NVMe on PCIe 5.0 target every bottleneck a Postgres or MySQL primary actually hits. No NUMA to tune around.
Low-latency services
A 2.9 GHz base with a 4.15 GHz boost means single-threaded paths stay fast — trading strategies, matchmaking, real-time APIs.
AI inference
Zen 4 supports AVX-512, so CPU inference on quantised models is viable. 128 GB of fast memory holds a sizeable model resident.
High-IOPS storage
Ten NVMe bays with direct PCIe 5.0 lanes suit object stores, seedboxes and write-heavy log pipelines.
When to pick something else
If you simply need the largest number of threads for the least money, the Dual Xeon E5-2699 v4 gives 88 threads at €325 against 48 threads here at €485. This configuration is about per-core speed, memory bandwidth and storage throughput — not thread count.
Compare the full dedicated range
Every configuration ships with IPMI, 1 Gbps unmetered bandwidth and 2.5 Tbps DDoS protection.

Single EPYC 9254 — common questions
Why choose EPYC 9254 over a cheaper dual Xeon?
Three things the Xeon platform cannot match: DDR5-4800 across twelve channels instead of DDR4-2133 across eight, PCIe 5.0 NVMe instead of SATA SSD, and a 2.9 GHz base instead of 2.2–2.6 GHz. If your workload is bound by memory or storage rather than thread count, this is a different class of machine.
Is this single-socket or dual-socket?
Single socket. That removes the NUMA boundary entirely, which usually makes performance easier to predict for databases and latency-sensitive services. The Dual EPYC 9254 doubles the cores if you need them.
Does it support AVX-512?
Yes. Zen 4 implements AVX-512, which meaningfully accelerates vectorised numerical work and quantised model inference compared with AVX2-only parts.
What NVMe capacities can I have?
Ten bays are available and we configure them to your specification before handover. Tell us total capacity and whether you want software RAID or plain devices for a distributed filesystem.
Can I upgrade the memory later?
Yes, though DDR5 performs best when all twelve channels are populated evenly. Ask us before ordering if you expect to grow, and we will populate the board so an upgrade stays balanced.
