Hetzner is the price benchmark in European hosting and deserves that reputation. The honest question is not whether we are cheaper — often we are not — but whether their model fits what you are building.
Hetzner's dedicated range is built on consumer and prosumer silicon in high volume: at the time of writing the EX44 lists at €44/month with a €39 one-time setup fee for a Core i5-13500 with 64 GB and two NVMe drives, and the AX52 at €59/month plus the same setup fee for a Ryzen 7 7700. Nothing in our range competes with that on absolute price, and we are not going to claim otherwise.
Where the model diverges is in shape. Those are fast single-socket machines with six to eight modern cores — excellent for a workload that wants clock speed, limited for one that wants many cores or a lot of ECC memory. Our entry Dual Xeon E5-2630 v3 is €225/month for 16 cores, 32 threads and 128 GB of registered ECC, which is a different machine for a different job.
The other differences are structural: Hetzner charges a setup fee, concentrates its footprint in Germany and Finland, and applies traffic thresholds above 20 TB on 10 Gbit uplinks. We charge no setup fee, run twelve sites across Europe and the US, and do not apply a traffic threshold on the listed port speed.

Where Hetzner is the better choice
No point pretending otherwise.

Hetzner adds a €39 one-time fee on the EX and AX lines. Our servers have none, on any configuration.
Twelve locations including the US
Hetzner concentrates on Germany and Finland. If you need Bucharest, Madrid, Istanbul or Ashburn, that is a hard constraint rather than a preference.
Dual-socket and high-core options
Our range runs to 256 cores and 1 TB of DDR5. The Hetzner dedicated line does not go there.
Registered ECC memory as standard
Every configuration ships with ECC. Some Hetzner consumer-silicon lines do not.
Hourly VPS billing
Our KVM VPS bills from €0.0063/hour, capped at the monthly rate, for workloads that do not run continuously.
The short answer
If you want the cheapest fast single-socket box in Germany, buy the Hetzner. Come to us when you need many cores, ECC memory, a location Hetzner does not serve, or a machine with no setup fee and no traffic threshold.

Is voxa.host cheaper than Hetzner?
Not on absolute price for entry-level servers — Hetzner is the benchmark there. We are competitive on cost per core for high-core-count configurations, and we do not charge a setup fee, which changes the first-month total.
Why would I pay €225 when Hetzner charges €44?
Because they are different machines. The €44 EX44 is a six-core desktop-class CPU with 64 GB of non-registered memory in Germany. The €225 configuration is 16 cores, 32 threads and 128 GB of registered ECC, available in twelve locations. If the €44 box does your job, buy it.
Does Hetzner limit bandwidth?
Their gigabit uplinks are unlimited, but traffic thresholds apply above 20 TB when using a 10 Gbit uplink on models such as the EX44, EX51 and EX52. Our listed port speeds carry no traffic threshold.
Can I get Hetzner-style hourly billing?
On our VPS range, yes — billing runs from €0.0063/hour and is capped at the monthly price, so an always-on server never costs more than the monthly rate. Dedicated servers are billed monthly.
