The E5-2630 v3 is a Haswell-EP part built for throughput rather than peak single-thread speed: eight cores per socket at a 2.4 GHz base, 3.2 GHz turbo, 20 MB of L3 per die, and a modest 85 W TDP. Running two of them gives you 16 physical cores, 32 threads, and eight DDR4 memory channels — a machine that stays busy under parallel load without the power and cooling profile of a modern high-core part.
At €225 a month this is the entry point to our dual-socket range, and it is aimed squarely at workloads that are limited by concurrency rather than clock speed: container hosts running dozens of small services, CI runners chewing through parallel jobs, reverse proxies and application tiers, or a virtualisation host carving out a handful of guests. Every core is yours — there is no hypervisor between you and the hardware, and no neighbours competing for cache or memory bandwidth.
You get IPMI access from day one, so OS reinstalls, console access and power cycling happen without a support ticket. Provisioning completes in under an hour, and the server can sit in any of our twelve locations across Europe and the US.
What this configuration is good at
Where the Dual Xeon E5-2630 v3 earns its price against the rest of the range.
Container and Kubernetes nodes
32 threads is comfortable headroom for a worker node running many small pods, where per-container CPU demand is low but concurrency is high.
Self-hosted CI runners
Parallel build and test jobs scale with thread count. Eight memory channels keep compilation from starving on memory bandwidth.
Web and application tiers
PHP-FPM, Node, Rails and Python workers scale horizontally across cores. 128 GB leaves plenty of room for in-process caching.
Virtualisation hosts
Run Proxmox or plain KVM and split the box into your own VMs, with ECC memory protecting long-running guests.
When to pick something else
If your workload is single-threaded and latency-sensitive — a game server tick loop, a low-latency trading strategy, a small database with heavy point queries — the 2.4 GHz base clock will hold you back. Look at the E5-2690 v4 for a higher clock, or the EPYC 9254 for modern per-core performance.

Every configuration ships with IPMI, 1 Gbps unmetered bandwidth and 2.5 Tbps DDoS protection.

Dual Xeon E5-2630 v3 — common questions
How many physical cores does this server have?
16 physical cores and 32 threads in total — two E5-2630 v3 processors with eight cores each, with Hyper-Threading enabled. All cores are dedicated to you.
Is the bandwidth really unmetered?
Yes. The port is 1 Gbps guaranteed with no traffic cap and no overage billing. You can saturate it continuously without a surcharge.
Can I install my own operating system?
Yes. Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and CentOS are available at deploy, and IPMI lets you mount a custom ISO for anything else, including Proxmox, VMware or Windows Server with your own licence.
What storage can I put in the six bays?
The chassis takes six SSDs. Contact us with the capacity and RAID level you need and we will configure the array before handover — RAID 1, 10, 5 and 6 are all supported through the onboard controller.
How does this compare to a VPS with the same core count?
A VPS shares physical cores across tenants and scheduling is arbitrated by the hypervisor. Here the full L3 cache, all eight memory channels and every core belong to one workload, so throughput is predictable under sustained load rather than best-effort.
