VPS Prices by Location: What the Same Server Costs in Five Cities

The same virtual machine does not cost the same in every city. A KVM VPS in Bucharest is our base price, and every other site adds a location fee on top of it, because transit, power and rack space cost different amounts in Romania, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria. This post lists the real figure for all six plans in all five cities, per month and per hour, so you can price a project before you open the order form.

Everything below is our live catalogue in euro, before VAT where it applies. You can also switch the storefront to US dollars or Romanian leu, and the order page shows the exact amount in your currency before you confirm.

The five cities we deploy a VPS in

We rack dedicated servers in twelve countries, but virtual machines run in five of them. These are the five, with the round trip from our Frankfurt hub as published on the locations page.

What the location fee is

Every plan has one base price. Bucharest is sold at that base with no addition, which is why Romania is always the cheapest row in the tables below. The other four sites carry a monthly location fee that we publish on the order form next to the city name. Amsterdam and Warsaw carry the same fee as each other, and Frankfurt and Vienna carry the same fee as each other, slightly higher than the Dutch and Polish figure.

The fee is stored as a monthly number and converted for the cycle you buy. On a quarterly order it is multiplied by three. On an annual order it is multiplied by twelve. On an hourly order it is divided by 720, the same divisor we use for the plan itself, which is why the hourly rates below end in four decimals.

Monthly price in each city

Six plans, from a 2 GB machine to a 32 GB machine. Every one is a full KVM virtual machine with its own kernel, its own RAM allocation and its own disk on a mirrored SSD pool.

A quarterly order is three times the monthly figure. An annual order prices the plan itself at about ten percent below twelve monthly payments, while the location fee is charged for twelve months at face value. An annual Ion in Vienna is therefore €48.60 for the plan plus €18.00 for the location, which is €66.60 for the year against €72.00 paid month by month.

Hourly rate in each city

Every plan in the table above can also be taken by the hour instead of by the month. The hourly rate is the monthly price divided by 720, and the location fee is divided by 720 as well and added on top. Four decimal places are not decoration, they are what we actually deduct.

Streaming plans are a separate range and are sold by the month, quarter or year rather than by the hour. They live on the CDN origin page.

Four worked examples

• A 40 hour load test on a Forge in Vienna. 40 hours at €0.0389 is €1.56.
• A week of an Ion in Bucharest. 168 hours at €0.0063 is €1.06.
• A six hour render on a Titan in Frankfurt. 6 hours at €0.1167 is €0.70.
• A Core in Warsaw left running all month. A 31 day month is 744 hours, which at €0.0209 is €15.55, against €15.00 for the monthly cycle. If a machine never switches off, buy the month.

How hourly billing works here

Hourly servers are paid from account credit rather than invoiced after the fact. The practical rules are short.

• You need at least €5 of credit on the account to place an hourly order. Credit can be topped up from €5 to €1000 at a time, and automatic top up is available if you would rather not think about it.
• We deduct the rate once an hour for as long as the server exists.
• When your balance is about a day away from running out, we email a warning. If it does run out, the server is suspended an hour later and terminated 48 hours after that. Topping up before then brings it straight back.
• You get one summary invoice for the month covering the hours you used.
• A powered off server still bills. The disk, the IPv4 address and the reserved capacity are all still yours while the machine exists. Deleting it is what stops the meter.
• There is no cap on an hourly plan, which is the honest version of the answer. 720 hours costs exactly one month of the plan, so anything permanently on belongs on a monthly, quarterly or annual cycle instead.

What the price includes

• One IPv4 address. Additional addresses are €1.50 each per month, up to ten on one server.
• Unmetered traffic. There is no monthly transfer allowance to exceed and no overage line on the invoice.
• A wide image list, including Debian 10 through 13, Ubuntu 18.04 through 26.04 LTS, AlmaLinux and Rocky 8 and 9, CentOS Stream 9 and 10, Oracle Linux 9, Fedora, openSUSE Leap, Arch and FreeBSD 14 and 15. Windows Server images are offered on our dedicated servers, not on the VPS range.
• Extra disk in 50 GB units at €4 per unit per month, up to three units, so 150 GB above the plan.
• Power control, a console, a reinstall and a password reset in the client panel, plus the location choice at order time.
• No setup fee on any VPS plan, and hourly orders waive setup fees entirely.

Which city to choose

• Most of your users are in Western Europe. Frankfurt, and Amsterdam if you want a second site on a different exchange.
• Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia or southern Germany. Vienna, which is 4 ms from the hub and much closer to those users than Amsterdam is.
• Poland or the Baltics. Warsaw. Western European sites reach Poland poorly compared with a machine sitting in it.
• Attack pressure, or the lowest price. Bucharest, which has long standing scrubbing capacity and is our base price everywhere on the list.
• Data must stay in the EU but not in Germany. Vienna, Warsaw or Bucharest, all inside the EU and the EEA.
